What Were Sculptures Made Out Of?

They were made out of either black stone or wood, they did this because it would last longer. which is good because they put a HUGE amount of time into this, I wouldn't be that patient! Special drills and tools were used to polish parts of the sculpture and also add tiny detail that looked good no matter what! These sculptures were usually in houses, or churches. I would love one of these pieces in my house! They also had a lot of symbols, like I said in my last post! They were made in different sizes, shapes, and with different clay! Like we use today they used the score and slip method! that helpful tip comes in handy! Also they included text/words in some of them, for saying or anything! To heat them up they used a Bonn fire, but in our country now, we use kennels but the same of them two is they both take daysssss to heat up!

What Were Some Of The Artists?

They were veiwed as craftsmen, but not as improtant as blacksmiths. They both shared a store together, i don't think that was a very good decision! The only reason why they did this thought was for religious purpose. The idea of artistic design was not origanally important. The creation of pictures were to glorify god's. They did this by design and symbols, if i were to see one I would definently take pictures, and look at all the beautiful and small detail! Some of the best painters are in the Romansque Era. One of them is Nicholas of Verdun, who painted Enamel Plaques. This was one of his best painting ever! Another one which i know you probably wont know is Klosternburg Altar. He made it in 1181, wayyyy before your time! The crazy thing about his work is that the clay was flowy so that if he made dresses for girl statues it would be flowy and not all stiff! i wish we had sculptures like that in our town!

What Were Thing's They Used?

They used a lot of things  but one is was a cave. They used this because it helped the paintings and sculptures from getting ruined! This might sound gross but they used gum, plaster, and gypsum to make the sculptures. I don't know about you but i would not be touching those things! Some things they made was BIG PANELS to go around cakes for decoration. They could be shinny, say stuff, or just a plain panel. To make sculptures that look like bodies, artists would find dead bodies then cover them! that sound's sooo gross! The only reason they wouldn't use a body is if some of the peoples heads got mixed up, and the heads were too big for the body. If you wanted to sculpt a dead god, you couldn't because there skin is too thin! I'm sure you could find something else anyways!

What Was The Art Mainly About?

They made art about 26 MAIN things; a few of them are merchants, mining, and missionaries. The pictures of merchants were working with pots and pans. They started painted merchants at the beginning of time. Art was also about the dark ages, also they had a lot of style and a lot of detail even if it was small or big. Sometimes a painting or sculpture was for Virgin Mary, Christ, and prophets. The art work was Giant! And towered over everything/one.
